LG G3 dummy unit appears in store ahead of its launch

Another day, another LG G3 leak. We have already seen it all - press renders, live images, official accessories and what not? Today, we get to see the dummy unit of the upcoming LG G3 smartphone, which was spotted in a store in Korea.
The images reconfirm that the smartphone will come out with ultra-thin bezels and will feature redesigned back buttons as compared to the G2. The dummy unit also shows the positioning of the USB port, 3.5 mm audio jack and the IR blaster. We also get to see the default wallpaper of the G3.

We know that the G3 will sport a 5.5-inch IPS QHD display and will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with quad-core CPU and 3GB of RAM. The 13 megapixel rear snapper with OIS and the 2.1 megapixel front facing shooter will complete the camera department.
A recent leak also confirmed the price of the device. LG G3 will house a 3,000mAh removable battery and will run on the new Optimus UI out of the box.
Meanwhile, LG has released three promo videos to build up hype before the official announcement, but with most of the information already out, the company has less room for pulling any surprises at its event on May 27.

Lenovo Golden Warrior S8 detailed, priced

Lenovo's upcoming smartphone, the Golden Warrior S8 has been detailed by an online retailer. The information comes complete with the pricing info of the smartphone.

The Lenovo Golden Warrior S8 sports a 5.3-inch LTPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and comes with Gorilla Glass. Under the hood, there is a MediaTek MTK6592M chipset with quad-core CPU clocked at 1.4GHz. The device also features 2 GB of RAM, 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5 megapixel front facing shooter and 16 GB of internal memory with the ability to expand it via microSD card.
Connectivity options for the Warrior S8 include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Direct and 3G support. The upcoming dual-SIM smartphone measures 146 x 76.7 x 7.9mm and weighs about 146 grams.

It's quite disappointing to know that the Lenovo Golden Warrior S8 will run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and not a more recent version of Android. Lastly, the smartphone packs a 2,000mAh battery, which according to the company offers 2 days of standby time.
Lenovo Golden Warrior S8 will carry a price tag of $200 when the smartphone hits the market. Unfortunately, there is no word on when the device will go official.

Apple iPhone 6 dummy pictured and measured

Another day, another iPhone 6 leak. iphone-store.ro contacted us with info on the upcoming Apple iPhone 6, including photos of a dummy and measurements made with a digital sliding gauge. This should finally settle the dispute about the size of the new Apple flagship.
The pictures also confirm the 4.7" screen, which will reportedly have a resolution of 960 x 1,704 (that's exactly 50% more pixels both horizontally and vertically than the current 4" iPhone 5s screen). This year Apple will use three suppliers – JDI and LG Display, plus Innolux.
Anyway, the Apple iPhone 6 dummy had the following dimensions – 137.5 x 67 x 7mm. For reference, the iPhone 5s is 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm.

The photos also give us the full tour of the iPhone 6 exterior, which features the iPod touch like design now familiar from the torrent of leaks. It's the White with Gold home key color option, though we've seen Grey, Black and Gold dummies too.

An employee of the Romanian Apple customer service reportedly claimed their team was told not to take any leave in September, presumably in anticipation of the launch. The launch itself might happen the month before.

Micromax Unite 2 goes official with Android 4.4.2 KitKat on board

Micromax took the wraps off the Unite 2 entry-level handset. The Android 4.4.2 smartphone is priced at the highly reasonable Rs. 6,999 (about $120).
The Micromax Unite 2 is the first smartphone from the Indian manufacturer which boots the latest version of Android out of the box. It will be available in four different colors – white, green, red, and gray.

The specs of the Micromax Unite 2 match its price tag. The device features an MT6582M chipset with 1.3GHz quad-core CPU. In the memory department, the Unite 2 offers a gig of RAM, 4GB of built-in memory, and a microSD card slot.
The rest of the smartphone features include a 4.7” IPS WVGA (800x 480 pixels) display, 5MP main camera with autofocus, and 2,000mAh battery. Connectivity features include dual-SIM functionality and FM radio on top of the standard fare.

Nokia X2’s tech specs leaked in benchmark

Nokia’s first foray into the world of Android was a bit underwhelming from a raw technical standpoint.
The Finnish company is clearly reserving their higher-end offerings for Windows Phone, but it seems as if they wanted to test the waters by offering a device with Google’s mobile OS. The origina Nokia X was a budget friendly handset priced to move units.
When word of the Nokia X2 broke out, it got us to thinking that maybe Nokia would try and bring a higher-spec’d Android phone to market. However, if this leak is to be believed, the Nokia X2 will be another entry-level smartphone.
We already knew that phone will be powered by a Qualcomm MSM8210 chip, but we didn’t know anything else, until now.
The AnTuTu benchmark report reveals that the Nokia X2 will be rocking Android 4.3, a a dual-core CPU capable at running from 300-1190MHz, an Adreno 305 GPU, 1GB RAM/4GB ROM, and a 4.3” display with 800x480 resolution. On the camera side of things, the X2 will have a 5MP primary unit and a 0.3 selfie snapper.
Any hopes of Nokia taking Android to a flagship status were dashed with this latest report, however, the X2 will still probably be a success if Nokia continues to price the handset aggressively.

Get an Unlimited Everything plan for $20 in the US

US cell provider, FreedomPop, promised to give free cell phone use to anyone with a compatible cell phone, however, there was a catch: you could only use 200 minutes a month, 500 texts, and a paltry 500MB of data. Then, you’d get charged an additional 1 cent per minute of calls and 2.5 cents per megabyte of data that you used.
Well, FreedomPop is allowing users to bypass all of that with their new $20 Unlimited Everything plan with LTE data. Sounds like a great deal, but there are a few things you need to consider.

First, it’s on Sprint’s network, which isn’t known for its overwhelmingly broad coverage or particularly fast data speeds. Also, you’ll be getting only 1GB of LTE data, after you burn through that, you will have unlimited data, but it will be relegated to Sprint’s 3G speeds. You will get unlimited text and talk for $20, which is still a pretty good deal.
Also, there are only four phones on FreedomPop’s network that are LTE compatible: The Galaxy S4, SIII, the Samsung Victory 4G LTE, and the iPhone 5.
Not exactly on the forefront of mobile technology.
Still, it is a pretty good option for someone who doesn’t use that much data and stays in an area where Sprint’s network is strong.

PS4 Preloading Will Only Begin With Destiny, Not Watch Dogs

One of the benefits of playing games on the PC is that developers usually allow gamers to preload a game ahead of its release. This means that gamers can download all the necessary files and patches and when the release date rolled around, all they’d have to do is fire up the game and they can start playing.

This is not a feature that is available on console, yet. Both Sony and Microsoft have recently expressed their interest at allowing games to preload on consoles, and the good news is that this feature will be making its way onto the Sony PlayStation 4 with Bungie’s upcoming game, Destiny, which is due for a launch on the 9th of September.

This is according to the Knowledge Center page by Sony which states that preloading will only begin with Destiny. What this means that if you were hoping that other PlayStation 4 games would feature preloading, you’d be out of luck, and this includes the upcoming Ubisoft game, Watch Dogs.

Many had assumed that Watch Dogs would be the first game to allow preloading, especially since the feature was introduced in the PS4 1.7 firmware. However the updated Knowledge Center page, along with confirmation by a Sony rep who spoke to DualShockers ultimately confirmed that Destiny would be getting that feature first. We guess this isn’t a big deal for some gamers, but for those with shoddy internet connections and were hoping to play Watch Dogs on the launch day itself, sorry to disappoint!
